TAST Week 21 and Week 22

Just didn't make it in time for TAST Week 21, so I decided to combine it with Week 22. Week 21 was something called the Butterfly Chain stitch and this week's, #22, is the Knotted Cretan stitch. Now, I love knots in embroidery, but I did not like this stitch! Very strange stitch and not enjoyable.

The outer ring of the hexagon is the Butterfly Chain (I did mine a little differently than the original way) and the inner hexagon is the Knotted Cretan. I used a Cebelia 10 thread that I dyed myself for the big stitch quilting that I did for Michael's quilt 12 years ago. Sorry the link inside that post for that quilt doesn't work anymore. There is another link available, but I can't find it right now.

  1. that is so fun and beautiful...

  2. You've made those Butterfly Chain Stitches stand out! A striking piece!

  3. lovely1 I like the way you ahve used the beads.

  4. Congratulations on being Highlighted by Sharon. I thought you would as this is such a simple yet stunning work. Well done!

  5. Really like what you did with the Butterfly Chain and Knotted Cretan stitches!
