January 7, 2014 is the big day for
new quilting mystery writer Mary Marks. That's the day
her first mystery, Forget Me Knot, is due to come out.
Forget Me Knot is the first of a new
series. It was a finalist in a national writing competition in 2011.
FORGET ME KNOT is the adventure of
Martha Rose, a sassy, sarcastic woman of a certain age and her two quilting
friends Lucy and Birdie. The trio discovers the corpse of another quilter and
days later the victim’s prize winning quilt is stolen. Martha is enlisted to
draw on her knowledge of quilting to decode the secret messages the victim left
behind. But the deeper she digs, the closer the killer gets to stopping Martha
permanently.
“Mary Marks had me on pins and
needles and wanting to wrap myself up in a warm quilt while reading her cozy
debut!”
—Lee Hollis, author of Death of a
Chocoholic
“Mary Marks has stitched together a
very clever plot with a cast of engaging characters in this funny, fast-paced
debut mystery. I loved Martha Rose and her posse of crime-solving quilters and
can’t wait to read what they’re up to next!”
—Laura Levine, author of Killing
Cupid
Mary Marks became an award-winning
quilter after an early retirement from her job in administration on the campus
of the University of California Los Angeles. After twelve years of sewing
twenty four/seven, she came up for a breath and started writing about some of
the nearly one hundred quilts she’d created. Read
more about Mary here.
I do a lot of my reading while
walking on a treadmill. How much time I spend on the treadmill is often related
to how good my reading material is. I got a lot of steps in while reading the
advance copy of Forget Me Knot! It was a difficult book to put down!
