Blogiversary Giveaway!

January 8th will be one year since I started blogging. I've been averaging a little more than one post per week. Maybe I could do better than that for the second year.

When I renewed my membership to The Quilt Show, they sent me a gift certificate to give to a friend for a free six month membership. If you'd like one chance to win that membership all you have to do is leave a comment on this blog post sharing any quilty tidbit about yourself (how long you've been quilting or what type of quilts you like to make or anything else at all that you would like to write.)

Important note: Please pay attention! If your comment does not have your profile set to show your email address, you must include your email address in your comment. If the Random Number Generator chooses a comment that has no way for me to contact the commenter, I will immediately tell it to choose another number. It's also nice to be able to reply to your comments. You can go to this recent post by Park City Girl where she explains how to change your profile.

You can have two more chances to enter, but the first one above is required. For a second chance, become a follower (click on Follow in the sidebar) and write another comment telling me that you did so, or that you have been a follower already.

For a third chance, write about my giveaway in one of your own blog posts. Again, write another comment telling me you did so. All three entries must be made with separate comments.

The drawing will take place after midnight, U.S. EST, at the end of Sunday, January 10.

I don't like blog posts with no photos, so I'll leave you with a photo of my second ever quilt, made in 1995. It was my own design and was totally hand pieced, hand appliqued and hand quilted! (click to enlarge)

Stay tuned for another giveaway the last week of January. I plan to participate in the One World One Heart blog event. It will be my second year. You can also click on the button in my sidebar.

Good luck!

Debbie

  4. I love the black quilt with the fans! I make my quilts by hand, both piecing and quilting, and I love it. Of course, it is slower but I quite enjoy the process. I am planning though to try machine piecing, since there are some quilt designs that I like and would like to make that you have to machine-piece.
Oh, thank you for the link to the OWOH. I shall consider joining if I find the time.
Happy New Year and thanks for the giveaway!

  5. Congrats on your one year blogiversary. What a great giveaway! I've been quilting for about 24 years. I've had a little more time in the last few years as my children have gotten older. I am a traditional quilter, but I love all kinds of quilts. Thanks for entering me in your great giveaway.

  7. How very generous of you. I've never tried the Quilt Show so I'd love to win your certificate!

I've been quilting since the late 60's, before rotary cutters, mats and all the cool rulers we have now.

  16. Hi Debbie,
Congratulations on one year of blogging!! I think I have been quilting longer than I can remember. LOL!! Seriously, I made my first quilt for my daughter when she was born in 1970. I made it while we were stationed near Tokyo, Japan and my husband was in the Air Force. I love to sew and delight in connecting with others who enjoy quilting and stitching!!

  26. Happy blogoversary. I have been quilting for 5 years. For myself I mainly do soft contemporary or forest quilts. I use ElectricQuilt software to help preview color selections. If the quilt top turns out fantastic I send it out to be long arm quilted, but with the economy the way it is I usually machine quilt it myself on my home machine with a walking foot. Please enter me in the drawing. Thanks My email address is open1508call@verizon.net

  27. I started buying books and gathering fabrics about 20 years ago. My first 'quilt' didn't happen until I took a class with my sister at a local shop. That first 'quilt' a double wedding ring, is still a UFO. My second one, a Double Irish chain, is used around the house still. It was tied, not quilted but done! Thanks for the opportunity to win.

  28. Your fan quilt is wonderful. I can't imagine doing all that hand piecing! I have been quilting for 5 years & meet evey Tuesday with 5 elderly quilters from whom I've learned sooo much. I love batiks & paperpiecing.

  40. Happy blogiversary!!!!I have memories about the day you started blogging, that day my grandma turned her centenial age, hopefully next year we'll celebrate her 101 years old, and in the same day, January the 8th 2009, we had a strong earthquake with a lot of damage, in my country. Nothing happened to her or my family, but certainly it was a date to remember!!!.
I started to quilt a little while ago I love to learn new techniques, I love to make block as bear paws or Ohio Star, looking forward to learn more!

  44. What a great blog you have. I'm a new follower, and a relatively new quilter. I took a quilt in a day class 11 years ago and never finished it because I decided to make a king size quilt and hand quilt it, LOL. I've made a few simple baby quilts over the years, and now am feeling the itch to really dive in.

  48. Congratulations on a year of blogging. I have been blogging longer than I have been quilting.
I started quilting when co-worker convinced me to take a class in foundation paper piecing. That was in March of 2008. You can see my very first block at http://artbygene.blogspot.com/2008/03/my-first-pfp-quilt-square.html

From that small beginning I started quilting.

I would love to try out The Quilt Show. My email is ebandit AT hotmail (dot) com

    Thanks for the opportunity.

  49. Good for you with one year coming up! I've been doing the quilting thing for close to 20years and counting. The best tip that I use all the time is using a different color thread in my bobbin. This is great when working on log cabins, Irish chains or anything where you're chain sewing. If you get called away from a project or it fall into your UFO box, it will be easy to tell which direction you're supposed to sew. I always use a darker beige in the bobbin.

  50. Nice giveaway! As I'm in Australia, if I win, could you send the prize to Gene Black? I love his blog and he sent me here, so why not?
I've been quilting for about 4 years. I used to hate sewing, but patchwork and quilting don't count as sewing, do they? :) I am totally addicted now, to the whole quilting experience.
Have a great year, and happy quilting!

  53. Hi Debbie, what a great give-away! Thanks for the opportunity to enter! I've been quilting about 20 years or so, but am getting mainly interested in artsy quilts - for one thing, they're smaller, lol. I've decided it's the graphic appeal of quilting that I love the most. Hopefully 2010 is the year I start making this type of quilt!
